Commissioner Sylvia Grot, representing Shelby Township and the City of Utica on the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, has been unanimously appointed to the Macomb Orchard Trail Commission. With an inspiring 13- 0 vote, the executive’s recommendation of her appointment was approved by the Board of Commissioners.
The trail holds historical significance as it follows the route of the Michigan Air Line Railroad, initially connecting Romeo and Richmond in 1871. It later became part of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad and is now a beautiful, paved path for residents since its completion in 2011.
Commissioner Grot’s wealth of knowledge and active community involvement make her an excellent choice. Her inclusive and attentive approach will ensure prosperity and safety for all in Macomb County.
“I would like to thank the Executive and the Board of Commissioners for having confidence in me and appointing me to the Orchard Trail Commission. It’s another great opportunity for me to serve the residents. Recreational activities and open spaces are vital for our residents to maintain their healthy lifestyles. I’m hoping to do my small part and continue to do the work that my predecessors started for me,” said Commissioner Grot.
The next Macomb Orchard Trail committee meeting will be held on August 1, 2023.
