Commissioner Joe Sabatini is excited to announce a $5,000 grant received by Macomb Township from Greater Metropolitan Association of REALTORS® (GMAR) as part of their $28,000 Placemaking Grants initiative. These strategically earmarked grants are intended to revitalize public spaces, benefiting community organizations and local governments in the tri-county area.
With this $5,000 grant awarded to Macomb Township’s Pitchford Park, the Bark Park Artwork is already underway. As a fundamental part of Macomb Township’s 10-year recreation plan, the Bark Park holds the promise of enhancing the park experience. Thanks to the funds provided by GMAR, the dog park fencing will be furnished with decorative aluminum murals, contributing to the overall well-being, and belonging within the community, and is the first Bark Park Art within the Township.
“As a realtor for nearly 20 years and member of GMAR, I saw a way for Macomb Township to benefit from this initiative and partnered with the township Treasurer to secure funding,” Commissioner Joe Sabatini said.
The Bark Park Art will feature 20 large, two-dimensional cut-out silhouettes of dogs and their humans playing together, laser-cut from durable aluminum-and-polystyrene panels, creating a lasting bond between dogs and their human families. The strategically placed murals will be visible from both sides of the dog play enclosure and throughout the park, offering visitors a unique and engaging experience.
“I am also excited to bring my dog, Taffy, to this park. Being among the first dogs to enjoy the new dog park will be a fantastic experience. I appreciate GMAR’s support and decision to allocate nearly 1/5 of the total grant to Macomb Township. This will truly make a difference in our community,” said Commissioner Sabatini.
Macomb Township and Commissioner Joe Sabatini eagerly anticipate the transformative impact of their collaboration with GMAR. The Placemaking Grant aims to create a dynamic, vibrant, and livable environment for all residents and visitors, further enhancing Macomb Township’s reputation as a highly desirable place to live, work, and raise families.
