About Barbara

Commissioner Zinner, re-elected in 2022 for a second term, represents District 9, serving Grosse Pointe Shores, Harrison Township and most of St. Clair Shores.  She has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for 48 years, working for 34 years in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care settings with patients needing multiple areas of care, including acute care.  She was appointed by Governor Engler to be on the Social Work Board of Appeals for 6 years in Lansing.  She was appointed to the Macomb County Republican Executive Board for over 20 years. She believes in a strong economy, promotes American Values and Constitutional Rights and prioritizes being responsive to constituents’ needs.  She is a lifelong Macomb County resident who has been married for 43 years with 3 adult children, 2 sons-in-law and 5 grandchildren.
