Michael Howard was elected to the Macomb County Board of Commissioners in November 2024, representing District 12, which includes the City of Center Line and the southern portion of the City of Warren. A proud Detroit native, Michael’s family has called Macomb County home for over 20 years. He currently resides in Warren with his wife of eight years, Emma Leigh, their three children, and two dogs.
Michael earned his Bachelor’s degree in Christian Studies from Truett McConnell University before returning to Michigan with a passion for service and community impact. He is the founder and owner of Howard Family Designs, a custom furniture business established in 2016, and also serves as the Director of Madison Heights Citizens United. In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Michael sits on the boards of multiple nonprofits and is active in local church leadership.
Michael’s track record of service includes disaster relief efforts with SEND Network after the 2014 floods, fire prevention outreach to over 2,000 households, organizing neighborhood block parties, youth basketball clinics, and collaborative events with churches and nonprofits. A former youth pastor, barista, and USMC JROTC member, he brings a well-rounded and grounded perspective to public service.
As County Commissioner, Michael focuses on infrastructure investment, fiscal responsibility, and expanding access to mental health care. He is a steadfast advocate for veterans, individuals with disabilities, and underserved communities—working to ensure every resident has access to the resources they need and a voice in county government.
Driven by a life mission to cultivate community and catalyze change, Commissioner Howard is honored to serve the residents of District 12 and Macomb County.
