Macomb Fall Senior Expo: Chairman Brown and Commissioner Grot in the Spotlight
The Macomb County Board of Commissioners proudly marked their presence at the Macomb Fall Senior Expo, held on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the Palazzo Grande in Shelby Township, MI. This is a nationwide, meticulously crafted event aimed to provide seniors and their families with valuable support and resources.
Board of Commissioners’ Chairman Don Brown, representing Armada Township, the Village of Armada, Bruce Township, Ray Township, the City of Richmond, Richmond Township, the Village of Romeo, Washington Township, part of the Village of Memphis, and part of Shelby Township, attended the Macomb Fall Senior Expo. Chair Brown has played a vital role in enhancing the lives of seniors in his community and championing their well-being within his responsibilities. His presence at this event signified his commitment to empowering seniors and their families to access high-quality care and services. He expressed, “The Macomb Fall Senior Expo is a testament to our commitment to empower our seniors. Our goal is to ensure they have access to the best resources and care.”
Commissioner Sylvia Grot, representing part of Shelby Township and the City of Utica, also showcased her commitment to senior residents. She expressed, “Events like the Macomb Fall Senior Expo allow us to listen to the concerns of our senior residents directly and work collectively to address their needs. It’s a vibrant display of unity and support and I am glad to be here.”
Chairman Brown and Commissioner Grot were not mere attendees; they were dynamic participants who engaged in robust conversations with expo-goers and extended a warm welcome to countless visitors to their table. The expo hummed with energy and was teeming with hundreds of exhibitors, vendors, and attendees. The Macomb Fall Senior Expo was an electrifying hub of activity, brimming with excitement.

Macomb County Board of Commissioners – Older Adult Advisory Committee (OAAC)
The Older Adult Advisory Committee (OAAC) of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, Chaired by Commissioner Barbara Zinner, will convene on Friday, September 29th at 2:00 PM at the Shelby Township Senior Center, located at 14975 21 Mile Road, Shelby Township, MI 48315.
The OAAC serves as an advisory committee to the Macomb County Board of Commissioners and is composed of older adults designated by commissioners, representing each commission district, along with up to four at-large members. The committee meets to gather insights about challenges, trends, concerns, and opportunities affecting older adults in the County, fostering communication with the Commissioners.
Mr. Dave Pankotai, Chief Executive Officer of Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH), is scheduled to provide an overview and update during the September meeting. Additionally, the meeting will feature a presentation on the forthcoming 2024 County Budget, offering attendees insights into the county’s financial priorities and allocations for the upcoming year. All meetings are open to the public and community members, and interested parties are encouraged to attend.

This event will be held at the Macomb Community College Center Campus in the Lorenzo Cultural Center from 9AM-12PM.
