The Macomb County Board of Commissioners announces an upcoming Drop-In Community Bike Ride, an initiative aimed at promoting health and wellness, community engagement, and use of local parks. This free event will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at River Bends Park located at 5700 22 Mile Road in Shelby Township.
The Community Bike Ride event reflects the Board of Commissioners’ commitment to fostering a healthier and more connected Macomb County and is hosted by Commissioners Don VanSyckel of Sterling Heights and Sylvia Grot of Shelby Township. Commissioner Don VanSyckel encourages residents to embrace an active lifestyle and explore their surroundings. “The Community Bike Ride reflects our shared vision for a healthier, more connected Macomb County,” said Commissioner Don VanSyckel. We want to give residents an opportunity to get outside, explore their community and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.”
“River Bends Park offers a great outdoor experience to enjoy the outdoors, stay active and spend quality time with family and friends,” said Commissioner Sylvia Grot. “Events like this strengthen our sense of community while encouraging healthy habits.”
Multiple route options available, ranging from 1.2 miles to 3.9 miles. Routes are family-friendly, suitable for all ages and will guide riders through the park’s natural landscapes, offering a scenic environment for outdoor activity.
