Macomb County, Michigan– The Macomb County Board of Commissioners’ Yoga at the Hill Program has been recognized with a 2024 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). These awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents.
NACo’s Achievement Awards recognize outstanding programming in 18 categories aligned with the vast, comprehensive services counties provide. The categories include children and youth, criminal justice and public safety, libraries, management, information technology, health, civic engagement and more. Launched in 1970, the program is designed to celebrate innovation in county government. Each nominated program is judged on its own merits and not against other applications.
The BOC’s Yoga at the Hill Program offers the opportunity for all residents, regardless of age or experience level, to learn about the beneficial practice of yoga and to personally participate in a group yoga session. This annual event, held at Freedom Hill County Park, is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a county green space and try yoga for the first time, revisit past practice, or enhance a current routine.
This year, the 9th annual Yoga at the Hill event was held Saturday, June 22nd with another successful turnout. Participation in the program has been steadily increasing each year, with this year’s attendance increasing almost 20% over last year’s.
