FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
October 6, 2025
Commissioner Antoinette Wallace was sworn in as the 117th President of the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC) Board of Directors at its annual conference this week. MAC is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that advances education, communication and cooperation among the leaders of Michigan’s 83 counties. It serves as the counties’ voice at the state and federal level, providing legislative support on key issues affecting counties.
“I am deeply honored to serve as President of the MAC Board,” said Commissioner Wallace. “This is a pivotal time for counties across Michigan as we confront both new challenges and exciting opportunities. I look forward to working collaboratively with my colleagues statewide to strengthen local government, invest in communities, and advocate for smart, effective policies that serve Michigan residents.”
Also attending the conference were Commissioner Sarah Lucido, who also serves on the MAC Board, along with Commissioners Michael J. Howard, II, Ken Goike, Sylvia Grot, and Don VanSyckel. The conference included plenary sessions that covered topics such as the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in building local economies and the challenges to mental health services. Michigan’s 83 counties are responsible for more than $3.6 billion in public revenue and employ more than 40,000 full-time workers.
Commissioner Wallace represents District 8, which includes Mount Clemens and most of Clinton Township. A County Commissioner since 2020, Wallace is currently Vice Chair of the Finance/Audit/Budget Committee and serves on the Community Mental Health Board.
“Commissioner Wallace has consistently shown the kind of leadership, vision, and commitment that this role demands,” said Board Chair Joe Sabatini. “We are confident she will lead the MAC Board with the same passion and integrity she brings to our community every day.”
