The Macomb County Board of Commissioners is proud to announce that two of its Commissioners were re-elected to the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC) Board of Directors. During regional caucuses held at the MAC Annual Conference September 24-26 at the Grand Traverse Resort, Commissioner Antoinette Wallace was elected 1st Vice-President and Commissioner Sarah Lucido was re-elected to represent Region 5.
“I am deeply honored to be nominated as Vice President of the Michigan Association of Counties. This recognition reflects not just my commitment to District 8 and Macomb County but also to the commitment to our state and the collaborative spirit that drives our work. I look forward to continuing our mission of serving the people of Michigan with dedication and passion and representing Commissioners across the state,” said Commissioner Antoinette Wallace.
Plenary sessions at the conference focused on the ominous rise of threats against local public officials and how county leaders can promote wellness in stretched county work forces. Michigan’s 83 counties are responsible for more than $3.6 billion in public revenue and employ more than 40,000 full-time workers.
Commissioners gathered at the event also reviewed and approved MAC’s policy platforms for 2024-25. These documents guide MAC’s advocacy staff in their work in Lansing and Washington, D.C.
“Thank you to the Michigan Association of Counties for hosting an incredible conference and for all the hard work they do on behalf of the counties in the state of Michigan,” said Commissioner Sarah Lucido.
“We are proud to have two of our Commissioners in leading roles at MAC,” said Board Chair Don Brown. “Their active involvement is a benefit to our entire county.”
