The 2024-2025 officers and committee assignments for the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) were elected at its Annual Meeting on June 27, 2024. The Macomb County Board of Commissioners is proud to announce that Commissioner Michelle Nard was re-elected SEMCOG Vice-Chairperson and Transportation Coordinating Council member and Commissioner Don VanSyckel was re-elected to the SEMCOG Regional Review Committee.
“With a profound sense of gratitude and a deep commitment to serve, I am humbled to have been elected by my esteemed peers as Vice-Chairperson of the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments and as a TCC Delegate for SEMCOG. This honor is a testament to the trust and confidence placed in my leadership. I am unwavering in my resolve to uphold the principles of collaboration, innovation and progress that define these esteemed organizations,” said Commissioner Michelle Nard. Commissioner Nard was also re-elected to the Transportation Coordinating Council. As a SEMCOG Officer she serves on the Regional Review Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee. In 2022-2023 she served as Vice Chair of the Traffic Safety Task Force.
“The SEMCOG Regional Review Committee is responsible for allocating millions of dollars of Federal monies in Macomb County and six other counties in Southeast Michigan. I am honored to serve on this committee,” said Commissioner Don VanSyckel. He joined the General Assembly and the Executive Committee in 2021 and previously served on the Transportation Coordinating Council. Commissioner VanSyckel’s continuing roles on these committees have a positive impact and contribute to the betterment of our community.
“We are proud to have two of our Commissioners continuing in their roles at SEMCOG,” said Board Chair Don Brown. “Their active involvement brings returns to our entire county.”
