The Older Adult Advisory Committee (OAAC) of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners will be visiting another community for its September meeting. This meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 3:00 pm at Warren City Hall, 1 City Square in Warren.
“Thank you to the Warren City Hall for hosting our September OAAC meeting,” said Commissioner Barbara Zinner, OAAC Chair. “Warren marks our tenth offsite visit over the past few years. These meetings give us the opportunity to learn about what is available in each community so we can share that information with others.”
The meeting agenda includes updates from the Commissioners that represent Warren. The committee will also receive a presentation about the Detroit-Area Aging and Memory Project Study by Project Director, Dr. Kristine J. Ajrouch. The Detroit-Area Aging and Memory Project Study, led by the University of Michigan’s Survey Research Group, examines disparities related to Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, while exploring strategies that may help lower risk and delay disease onset. At each meeting, the members share important updates, information, and initiatives. The OAAC meeting is open to the public and all are invited to attend. There are two opportunities for public participation at all meetings.
The OAAC serves as an advisory committee to the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. Members are appointed to represent each of the 13 Commissioner districts, along with 4 at-large members. The committee meets regularly to learn and inquire about challenges, trends, concerns, and opportunities affecting older adults in the County and communicates with the Commissioners what is learned.
