In honor of “National Volunteer Recognition Month” in April, the Board of Commissioners is accepting nominations of volunteers who make valuable contributions to the community. Nominees must a) be a resident of Macomb County with service anywhere in southeastern Michigan or b) perform service work that benefits Macomb County citizens/communities. Nominees must be at least 18 years of age and not received an award in the past 5 years. Chosen volunteers will be honored with a reception.
We need your help to find these deserving individuals! Let us know of an outstanding volunteer who resides in, or whose volunteer efforts benefit, Macomb County. Two volunteers will be chosen per district. From these volunteers, the Board will also recognize a special “Senior Volunteer of the Year.” This award was initiated by the Board’s Older Adult Advisory Committee as a means to give special recognition to people who have volunteered in the community since age 60.
Please take time to nominate one volunteer who meets the criteria by completing the following form: https://macombgov.az1.
Send the completed form to bocadmin@macombgov.org – or mail to: Macomb County BOC Volunteer Rec. Program

Organized by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners, this program pays tribute to those who have generously contributed their time and energy to make a lasting, positive impact on their community. Through their inspirational endeavors and invaluable services these volunteers promote unity and resilience among the residents of Macomb County. Each year, Commissioners select publicly nominated individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Macomb County. These nominees are acknowledged for their generosity, commitment, and dedication of their time. In addition to the district awards, the Older Adult Advisory Committee bestows the Senior Volunteer of the Year award to a distinguished senior volunteer who has made a significant impact in the senior community.
The exceptional stories of Macomb County’s most devoted volunteers were celebrated at the 2023 Macomb County Volunteer Recognition Reception, held at Freedom Hill.
