The Macomb County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for two seats on the Macomb County Veterans Affairs Commission as current terms approach expiration. These positions are open to Macomb County residents who have served honorably on active duty in the United States Armed Forces. Each appointment carries a four-year term beginning August 1, 2026, and concluding July 31, 2030.
The Veterans Affairs Commission provides oversight for the Macomb County Veterans’ Services Department. Responsibilities of commission members include:
Qualified applicants should demonstrate knowledge, skills, and experience in public service, business, or finance. In accordance with state statute, one commission seat must be filled by an independent member who may or may not belong to a congressionally chartered veterans’ organization. If applicable, applicants must submit a letter from their veterans’ organization along with their application materials.
Applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on July 14, 2025. Applicants should be prepared to attend the Government Oversight Committee meeting on July 21, 2025, at 3 p.m. for a public interview. Final appointments are scheduled to be made during the Full Board meeting on July 23, 2025.
